This work is a response to an old sign, “No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs” - a sign that some London boarding houses would have put up in the 1950s.

While it important to recognise that these signs existed it is also essential to acknowledge the huge progress that has been made in promoting inclusivity and diversity since then.

This artwork has been acquired by the Ulster Museum as part of their “Inclusive Global Histories” programme.

In a world so fractured the message of inclusivity, diversity, empathy & togetherness has never been “More” important.

This print is printed on museum-quality etching cotton rag giclée paper & hand signed by the artist Niall Conlon.

This print comes unframed.

Everything you need to know
What’s the difference between an original and a print?

My prints are high-resolution scans of an original painting, printed onto premium museum-quality etching cotton rag giclée paper. Each one captures the colour and detail of the original and arrives unframed.

My originals are one-of-a-kind pieces I’ve hand-painted.

What are the prints made on?

I print every piece on museum-quality etching cotton rag giclée paper — a heavyweight, archival cotton fine art paper I chose for its rich blacks, depth and longevity. My prints arrive unframed.

What size should I choose?

This print is available in six sizes — here’s a to-scale guide to help you picture it on your wall. All prints come unframed.

21 × 29.7 cmSmall — perfect for shelves and tighter spaces
29.7 × 42 cmA popular middle size for most walls
42 × 59.4 cmA larger size with real presence
50 × 70 cmA bold statement piece
60 × 80 cmA striking centrepiece
70.4 × 100 cmOversized — a true showpiece

Meet the Artist

Niall Conlon

For over a decade I had a steady job and a reliable income. From the outside, everything looked fine. But there was always a voice inside of me barking away that I was on the wrong path.

That bark kept getting louder & louder until I could no longer ignore it.

I named it the underdog, the restless part of me that refused to settle for comfort & was prepared to take a leap into the unknown.

Walking away from security was terrifying. The first months were filled with financial uncertainty, self-doubt, and more than a few sleepless nights.

But I kept showing up. I kept learning. I kept creating.

And I’m still here making the work I love and living a life that is true to myself.

The red underdog never stopped barking and I never stopped listening.

Taking that risk was the key to a life that feels so much more meaningful, and now I’m in control of my own story. Every print here is a piece of that journey, thank you for being a part of it.

Niall
